Description
The delicacy of a fine red wine from Margaux
The estate
In 1697, this property was sold to Simon Malescot, advisor to King Louis XIV. In 1827 the count of Saint-Exupéry, great-grandfather of the famous aviator, bought it. The 300-year-old Third Classified Growth Château Malescot St Exupéry boasts one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Margaux appellation.
The vineyard
The Château Malescot St Exupéry vineyard covers 23 hectares in the heart of the Margaux appellation.
The vintage
After a scorching summer and a growing season with fantastic climatic conditions, the Margaux appellation produced a great vintage.
The winemaking and ageing
Manual harvest carried out between September 25 and October 16. Alcoholic fermentation between 8 and 12 days in barrels.
The blend
Cabernet sauvignon (54%), merlot (35%), cabernet franc (6%), petit verdot (5%).
The tasting
The 2019 Malescot St Exupéry is characterised by a great delicacy, despite a powerful structure. It will be necessary to wait for this vintage to reveal the true freshness of the Cabernet and Merlot within its blend. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot give the Malescot St Exupéry 2019 a light salinity and good density.
