Château Marquis d'Alesme 2014

Bordeaux - Margaux - Red - 13.5° Château Marquis d'Alesme Château Marquis d'Alesme 2014 1055/14
  • Parker : 92
  • J. Robinson : 16

2014 Margaux from Bordeaux.

The 2014 Marquis d'Alesme is a Margaux and a success that perfectly reproduces the shades of its terroir; indeed it is a "millésime de terroir". This wine possesses dense aromatic expression and good texture on the palate with tight but well-extracted tannins. It also carries a black fruit retro-olfaction and a melted finish on tannins. This Margaux of Chateau Marquis d'Alesme is strong and should reach harmony at the end of the ageing process. It is stronger than usual.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2014 Marquis d'Alesme Becker has a tightly wound bouquet that is not quite as expressive as the 2014 Labégorce that I tasted alongside. Black fruit here, a touch of melted tar and violets, but it needs several years. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly tough tannin on the entry. This does not quite flow as well as its peers at the moment, although there is satisfying complexity and nuance on the finish that suggests it simply needs more bottle age. The salinity on the aftertaste is very pleasing.
