An ample red wine from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

The Château Montlandrie is a Côtes de Castillon wine owned by Denis Durantou. The blend of this wine is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in 50% in new oak.

This Château Montlandrie 2014 has a generous bouquet that reveals fragrances of blackberry and heather. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and quite fleshy, which helps to balance the tannins. On the finish, it offers aromas of mulberry and white pepper. This Montlandrie is subtle and imbued with the art of home.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2014 Montlandrie, the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux from Denis Durantou, is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon (yes, different to the percentages stated during primeur--happy to correct it now!). It offers attractive red cherry, wild strawberry and pastille-like scents on the pure bouquet, though maybe I discern a little more complexity on Denis' two Lalande-de-Pomerols, La Chenade and Les Cruzelles. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This feels a little compact at the moment (possibly because of the low pressure system on the day that I tasted?), although there is still commendable depth of fruit and a gentle grip on the persistent finish. I would just give this a couple more years in bottle.
