Description
A seductive Saint-Émilion wine of finesse and complexity
The estate
Owned by the Malet Roquefort family from 1819 to 1959, Château Puyblanquet returned to the family in 2020, more than 60 years after its sale.
The vineyard
Château Puyblanquet oversees a single-block 19-hectare vineyard on Bordeaux’s right bank. The vines planted on a limestone plateau and clay-limestone slopes give rise to an elegant and complex Saint-Émilion wine. The wines of Château Puyblanquet are vinified by the teams of Château La Gaffelière (Saint-Émilion), also owned by the Malet Roquefort family.
Vinification and aging
Density sorting followed by parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Alcoholic fermentation with pump-overs and punch-downs, followed by malolactic fermentation in vats. Aging lasts 12 months in barrels (50% new).
Blend
Château Puyblanquet 2020 is the result of a blend of merlot (80%) and cabernet franc (20%).
