Vinum

Open on the nose, floral notes, a hint of chocolate in the background; on the palate, round, soft, approachable, creamy, balanced, with fine-grained tannins and juicy fruit; a bitter-spicy finish on blood orange and sour cherry. Once again a safe bet this year.

Decanter

Chewy and fleshy but ripe and juicy too, a good combination that really fills the mouth while staying sleek and finessed. I like this expression, great definition and detail while still being really enjoyable. It has structure and power with clearly ripe fruit and fleshy tannins. Grippy and with plenty of personality. Organic. Tasted twice.

Licorice, espresso, cherries, licorice, and cigar box aromas form the nose. On the palate, the wine is open, fruity, fresh, and almost creamy, with chalky, mint tones accompanying the red currants in the finish. Give it just a year or two in the bottle, and it will be ready to go. 2024 marks the estate's first certified organic vintage, along with a new, modernized logo. Drink from 2028-2040. 92-94 Pts

Le Figaro Vin

On the nose, a noble, straightforward expression, very fine, with nuances of dark fruit and graphite, lifted by a touch of sweet spices. The palate is fresh and gentle, linear, with superb mineral drive and a well-controlled acidity that teases the palate.

Vertdevin

The nose shows lovely pulpy fruit, fresh and well-defined. It offers pedigree, with a very fine grain, finely powdery and elongated. It reveals notes of raspberry, violet, saffron (in its floral facet) and, more lightly, pulpy blackberry, combined with touches of pulpy blackcurrant, as well as fine hints of gunflint, Cubeb pepper and a discreet touch of fresh tobacco. The palate is fruity, mineral and fresh, offering a racy minerality, a charming gravelly, saline edge, a frank profile and a zesty backbone. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/fresh blackberry and blackcurrant and, more lightly, wild raspberry, combined with touches of crunchy wild berries, as well as hints of saline gravel, fresh flowers and a touch of saffron (in its floral facet). The tannins are precise, fresh and sappy. Good length.

A Saint-Julien wine imbued with freshness and balance

The estate

The Château Saint-Pierre, founded in 1693, is a historic wine estate located in Saint-Julien. The vineyard extends over 17 hectares and has been classified as a 4th Grand Cru Classé since 1855. After being fragmented, it was reunited in 1982 by Henri Martin, and is now managed by the Triaud family. What sets Château Saint-Pierre apart is its historical continuity, its traditional Médocan architecture, and its prestigious classification, making it a cornerstone of Bordeaux's elite crus.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Château Saint-Pierre benefits from an exceptional terroir in Saint-Julien, with unparalleled climatic and technical conditions that allow the grapes to reach optimal maturity. The vines are cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment, following organic farming principles, which contributes to the authentic expression of the terroir in the wine.

The vintage

The winter of 2024 was very rainy with mild temperatures, followed by a wet spring. Despite limited sunshine and heavy rainfall, vine growth was early and vigorous. The summer saw little precipitation in July and August, with high temperatures from mid-July to mid-August, allowing for optimal grape maturation.

Winemaking and ageing

A reasoned winemaking process, featuring short macerations and gentle extractions to limit extraction and enhance aromatic expression. Ageing is conducted 65% in new oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop its structure and complexity while preserving the fruit.

Grape varieties

The Château Saint-Pierre 2024 is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot.
