Description
The finesse and creaminess of a Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion
The estate
The origin of the name "Trottevieille" dates back several hundred years. Legend has it that near the château there was a stagecoach stop. Whenever a coach pulled in, the old lady would dismount at a trot to find out the news, hence the name Trotte Vieille. The Château Trotte Vieille has the unique characteristic of owning a small parcel of vines that survived the terrible phylloxera outbreak during the second half of the 19th century.
The vineyard
Superbly situated in the appellation Saint-Émilion and covering 10 hectares, the vineyard of Château Trotte Vieille benefits from a terroir of reddish soils on limestone bedrock.
Grape varieties
Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Characteristics and tasting recommendations for Château Trotte Vieille 2014
Tasting
Color
This vintage displays an intensely colored, deep, ink-purple hue.
Nose
The nose expresses with density and generosity a wide array of fleshy black fruit aromas.
Palate
The attack has good liveliness and gives way to a fairly dense tannic framework with an especially refined, fine grain. The retro-olfaction of freshly picked blackberry, accompanied by a hint of fresh licorice, confirms the uprightness and coherence of this wine.
