The freshness and finesse of a refined Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion
A great vintage for the Bordeaux region, 2018 offers a splendid expression of the great clay-limestone soil of Château Villemaurine, a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion.
Located on the Saint-Émilion plateau, on the right bank of Bordeaux, Château Villemaurine enjoys a privileged location indeed. Its magnificent vineyard is planted in clay-limestone soils upon asterious limestone.
Blending Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%), the Château Villemaurine 2018 presents the refined and elegant character of a Saint-Émilion born from an exceptional limestone terroir. At the tasting, the Château Villemaurine 2018 displays a deep and concentrated colour. A very fresh aromatic bouquet springs from the glass, enrobing the nose with its generous notes of black fruits. On the palate, the wine reveals a massive structure, supported by tannins of great finesse. With plenty of tension, the palate stretches into a finish of great elegance. A very fine vintage for Château Villemaurine embodying a great classic of the Saint-Émilion appellation.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Villemaurine rolls sensuously out of the glass with notes of plum preserves, blueberry pie and Black Forest cake with touches of underbrush, spice cake, star anise and unsmoked cigars plus a hint of potpourri. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with rich, seductive fruit, framed by plush tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and layered. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Aging is expected to be for 14 months in oak barriques, 75% new.
