A Red wine from Languedoc with floral and mineral notes
The estate
Founded in 2017 by Pierre Halley and Samuel Durand, the Clos Constantin develops its 15 hectares in Argelliers, in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac in Languedoc. Pierre Halley, a local winemaker, joined forces with Samuel Durand, former sommelier at Lavinia, to lead this estate certified organic since 2021. The domaine owes its singularity to its cool, late-ripening terroir, benefiting from exceptional temperature variations in this southeastern part of the AOC.
The vineyard
Located in Argelliers (Arjiès in Occitan) at the extreme southeast of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, the vineyard benefits from a unique terroir. The clay-limestone and quartz soils offer a cool climate conducive to slow, balanced grape ripening.
Winemaking and aging
The manual harvest of the 2023 Arjiès is followed by parcelled vinification using exclusively indigenous yeasts. Maceration lasts 30 days, with one third of the vats vinified with whole clusters. Aging takes place over 18 months, combining large oak vats and concrete eggs.
Grape varieties
This blend consists of 70% syrah, complemented by grenache and cinsault.
