Decanter

Ripe dark fruits and dried flowers abound on the nose, aromatic and expressive. Succulent and juicy on the palate but with a really rich, concentrated core of fruit giving intense blackcurrant, blueberry and black cherry flavors alongside coffee bean, dark chocolate and black pepper. Lovely combination of fruit and spice, all balanced and lifted by bright acidity and a minty fresh finish. A structured and sophisticated wine with lots to like and lots to give. Totally moreish — one you want to drink now but should probably hold on to. Tasted twice.

Aromas of blackberries, plums, peppercorns, walnuts and toasted bread. It’s medium- to full-bodied with firm, silky tannins. Excellent freshness with a delicious, creamy and spicy finish. 75% merlot and 25% cabernet franc. Drink after 2024.

Even better than it was in barrel, the wine explodes with nuances of truffles, cocoa, violets, roses, espresso, smoke, and an assortment of red and black plums. The wine is rich, full, deep, and velvety, with perfectly ripe fruits that come in waves, building and expanding as you enjoy all the silky-textured fruits on your palate. This is clearly the best Clos du Clocher ever produced! Drink from 2024–2045.

Silky, fruity, powerful bouquet of candied cherries, chocolate, cedar, hazelnut cream, and a hint of fine licorice. Balanced, powerful palate with fresh fruit, fine tannins, spicy-sweet aromatics, and a long, full finish. Still has room to improve. 17/20 2025 - 2040

Rich, deep and powerful, we are very much in the heart of Pomerol here, with black chocolate, cocoa bean, espresso, slate, balanced chalky tannins that set off an edge of graphite and gunsmoke. Harvest from September 20 to October 5, fermented with native yeasts and aged in 60%, 47hl/ha yield. This was the first full vintage for technical director Mathieu Bonté, working alongside owner Jean-Baptiste Bourotte.

[ Primeurs 2019 Ratings: 94-95 ] An intense nose with fresh fruit and floral notes. Silky and flavorful from the first sip, with a lovely bouquet and a melting texture. The smoothness of the fruit pulp is supported by an energy that gives depth to the finish. A very fine success.

An alluring nose that winks at you, with aromas of blackberry syrup and crème de cassis—dark yet flecked with spicy sparks. The palate is envelopingly sweet, fresh, and hypnotic, revealing the fruit’s delicacy in its vanilla caress, and finishing on a mineral note.

The vines of Clos du Clocher are indeed neighbors of l’Eglise de Pomerol and boast prestigious neighbors such as Fleur-Pétrus. There is great depth in the bouquet of Clos du Clocher! It is both seductive and serious, showing nuances of cocoa beans along with black-berry aromas. It stands out for its breadth and the precision of its fine-grained tannins. What a combination of charm and character, with smooth tannins and an acidic structure that underscores the wine’s energy and tension. Saline touch on the finish! This Clos du Clocher is exceptional. It showcases the strength of the terroir while recalling that the efforts made over the last 20 years by Jean-Baptiste and his family have borne fruit.

The nose is aromatic and offers a little intensity, fine power, and fine concentration. It reveals notes of pulpy/juicy wild black berries, wild blackberry and, more slightly, lily, together with hints of tonka bean, licorice, and a discreet touch of cubeb pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, indulgence, roundness, as well as a fine acidic thread, fine tension, precision, and a slight glycerol feel. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy blackcurrant, juicy blackberry and, more slightly, small blue fruits, with small touches of cornflower, camphor, sweet blond tobacco, and discreet hints of almond/sweet spices. Persistent finish on cocoa notes.

Logo on the capsule: inverted T (Trescases) Dark, intense, youthful color. Very aromatic nose, fine, pure, fruity and subtle. Precise on the attack, particularly perfumed mid-palate, with a Burgundian-like progression; the wine lets its aromas speak throughout the tasting. It finishes long, flavorful, delicious, highly perfumed and impossible to spit. This style has a bright future for this cru that is shaking up the codes in Pomerol. Bravo!
