Description
The refinement and balance of a Sauternes wine
The estate
With the first harvest carried out in 1618, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a historic Sauternes property. This 1st Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes in 1855 is also the smallest in the appellation in terms of surface area as it extends over 8.5 hectares. Located on the highest lands of the Bommes hill, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey takes its name from Peyraguey which means hill or promontory. Acquired in 2012 by Bernard Magrez, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey is one of the most beautiful classified growths of Sauternes.
The vineyard
This Sauternes property oversees a vineyard of 17 hectares whose vines, averaging 40 years old, are planted at the top of the Bommes hill, on gravelly-sandy soils resting on clay subsoils.
Vinification and aging
Light settling. Fermentation in new barrels or of a wine.
Blend
This Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2012 is the result of a blend of 95% sémillon and 5% sauvignon blanc.
