Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Langhe Nebbiolo 2024 Cordero di Montezemolo
Tasting notes
Color
The glass reveals a brilliant red color with violet hues of medium intensity.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with floral notes of rose petal and violet, intertwined with fresh red fruit aromas such as cherry, raspberry, and strawberry. Subtle touches of dried herbs, spice, and a lovely minerality complete this delicate profile.
Palate
Medium-bodied, the palate offers a juicy, fruity texture, supported by particularly supple and fine tannins. The bright, refreshing acidity typical of the grape variety carries the wine through to a finish delicately nuanced by hints of tar.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine from Italy pairs beautifully with pasta dishes in sauce (agnolotti with ragù, pappardelle), mushroom or truffle risottos, as well as grilled white meats with herbs. It will also pair very well with a charcuterie and cheese board, or with dishes featuring Middle Eastern and Asian influences, such as Korean barbecue.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate this Langhe Nebbiolo 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. It can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve favorably until around 2026.
Other characteristics
This wine comes from an estate certified 100% organic, guaranteeing environmentally friendly viticulture, free from pesticides, fungicides, or synthetic fertilizers.
An authentic expression of a red wine from the Langhe by Cordero di Montezemolo
The estate
The history of the Cordero di Montezemolo estate began in 1340 in Piedmont, when the Falletti family acquired their first plots of land. Located at the heart of the UNESCO-listed hills, this historic estate has spanned six centuries with remarkable family continuity. Today, Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo, alongside his children Elena and Alberto, represents the nineteenth generation at the helm of the estate. Committed advocates for the environment, they carry on this legacy by cultivating their entire vineyard according to organic farming principles, perpetuating historic expertise while remaining dedicated to the future.
The vineyard
The grapes used for this cuvée come from plots located in the Langhe region, more specifically in the communes of Alba and Cherasco. The blend is rounded out with fruit from young vines under eight years old, planted on the estate's Barolo terroirs. Reaching an altitude of around 300 meters, these vines thrive on marl-limestone soils rich in sandstone. The entire vineyard requires meticulous manual work to meet the demands of organic farming.
The vintage
2024 was marked by particularly contrasting weather conditions. The growing season began with a very wet spring, followed by intense heat waves during the summer. As harvest approached, heavy autumn rains set in, requiring an accelerated harvest schedule and rigorous selection in the vineyard.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Langhe Nebbiolo 2024 relies on a gentle approach in the cellar aimed at preserving the freshness of the fruit. After manual harvesting, the berries, largely kept whole, undergo a short maceration of three to four days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at a maximum of 28°C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for several months in oak vessels of various sizes, then refined in stainless steel tanks before summer bottling.
