La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou 2014

Incl. VAT & DPA case of 12 Bottles (75cl)

2014 Saint-Julien Grande Reserve, Bordeaux

The La Croix de Beaucaillou cuvee is produced from the La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou vineyard located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. This 2014 is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit-Verdot.
This dark coloured wine reveals an expressive nose and gives off vanilla, dried ink, beeswax and dark berry notes. On the palate, the 2014 La Croix de Beaucaillou is strong, thick and really ample. Very complex and unctuous, it offers a pleasant whole. This wine is persistent on the finish enhanced by a good smoothness.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2014 La Croix de Beaucaillou has enjoyed a purple patch in recent vintages. The nose on the 2014 appeared to have closed down after bottling, but the quality is still tangible, almost sedate, but exquisitely defined tertiary red berry fruit gradually opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and energetic, very focused with superb mineralité. There is just a mote of hardness and rigidity on the finish, but that will be abraded by bottle age (and this is one Deuxième Vin that benefits from bottle maturity).
