A noble and powerful white Hermitage from Delas

Expressing the noble character of the Hermitage appellation, the "Domaine des Tourettes" 2016 of the Maison Delas Frères is a wine produced in the great terroirs of the Northern Rhône Valley.

The White Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes 2015 from Delas is made from a blend of grapes from three different terroirs: those of l’Ermit, Le Sabot and la Tourette. This cuvee, produced only in very limited quantities, expresses the typical character of Marsanne (90%) and Roussanne (10%), grape varieties that flourish on these granite soils, which are covered with mica-schist and gneiss, mixed with alluvial pebbles.

In the glass, the Delas Domaine des Tourettes Hermitage 2015 shows off a pale yellow colour with green highlights, already demonstrating good density. The olfactory palette reveals an intense aromatic expression, with the richness of candied citrus flavours and delicate floral notes, underlined by the subtle vanilla notes and undergrowth. On the palate, the concentrated and powerful aromas are also perfectly expressed. A beautiful freshness presents itself also on the palate, following through to a finish that recalls the minerality of the terroir. A noble wine from Hermitage promising a good potential for guard.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The blend of Delas' white Hermitage is 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne, barrel fermented and aged in approximately one-third new oak. The 2016 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes Blanc features subtle notes of pencil shavings, ripe, tropical fruit and tremendous presence on the palate. That feeling (it's not exactly weight per se) extends through the long, slightly honeyed and cedary finish. While attractive now, I wouldn't be surprised to see this wine still going strong in 2026 and beyond.
