Description
The minerality and aromatic expression of a Loire dry white wine
The estate
In 2018, Ivan Massonnat, a wine enthusiast and lover of the Loire terroir, took over the reins of the Pithon-Paillé estate, founded by Jo Pithon. Renamed Domaine Belargus, this Anjou vineyard now spans 24 hectares farmed exclusively biodynamically. The estate's philosophy is based on showcasing the terroirs through parcel-led cuvées from carefully selected crus, lieux-dits, or monopoles. Each wine pays tribute to the pure expression of Chenin Blanc, the region's emblematic grape variety.
The vineyard
The "Veau" cuvée is a white wine from Anjou originating from one of the three parcels mentioned in the original decree creating the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation. Facing west, the vines grow on a schistous soil that lends this wine rare minerality and aging potential.
Blend
This Veau 2021 from Domaine Belargus is made exclusively from Chenin Blanc.
