Description
The elegance and aromatic richness of a fine red wine from Provence by Domaine Gavoty
The estate
Located in Provence, Domaine Gavoty is a family-owned estate that was acquired in 1806 by Philémon Gavoty, a visionary winegrower. He wished to develop the Côtes de Provence appellation as a winegrowing terroir in itself. Since 1985, Roselyne Gavoty has been managing the vinification process of the estate's wines with the ambition of promoting these "terroir" wines, each of which authentically expresses the identity and unique features of the appellation.
The vineyard
Comprising a 45-hectare single-block vineyard, planted on clay-limestone soil and a Triassic plateau, Domaine Gavoty produces rosé, white and red wines that are both ageworthy and high-quality. Constantly seeking the purest expression of her terroir, Roselyne Gavoty produces wines that have been recognised by numerous critics. Domaine Gavoty has just been awarded its 4th star in 2020 by the Bettane&Desseauve Guide.
The wine
Clarendon is the name given to the estate’s finest vintages, as a tribute to Bernard Gavoty, music critic and agricultural engineer.
The vintage
The rainy period on June 24th spared the estate’s plots that were dedicated to the production of red wine. Despite the heavy rainfall between May and the beginning of August, the harvested grapes showcased a pleasant maturity.
Vinification and ageing
Vatting for 20 days, depending on the grape variety, followed by 18 months of ageing in vats.
The blend
Syrah (95%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
