Coming exclusively from vineyards located on the Grasberg- it has an altitude of 340 meters at the top of the Altenberg de Bergheim grand cru- the vintage 2008 of the Grasberg cuvée of the Domaine Marcel Deiss is composed of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. Its poor limestone soils and its North-East exposure make this white wine a complex, fruity and long one. On the nose, the cuvée Grasberg 2008 of house Marcel Deiss reveals a true explosion of jammy citrus fruits. The Alsace aromatic bouquet is enhanced by notes of fresh mint leaves. On the mouth, it is bold with a softer finish : this wine is a great wine from Alsace.
Parker : 92 / 100
Wine Advocate-Parker : Seductive rowan, faded lily, mint, marzipan, and pistachio extract on the nose of Deiss's 2008 Grasberg persist on a subtly sweet, creamy yet somehow vivacious palate, joined by quince preserves and following in a finish that manages to project a personality decadent and cooling, soothing and stimulating. I would anticipate at least 15 years of fascination and sensual indulgence.
