The estate

Nicolas Rossignol represents the 5^th generation of winegrowers in his family in the Volnay appellation in Burgundy.
After training at several estates and overseeing winemaking at Domaine Rossignol-Jeanniard from 1994, Nicolas Rossignol founded his eponymous estate in 1997, with vineyards in the Volnay, Pommard, Beaune, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses appellations.
In 2011, the two estates, Rossignol-Jeanniard and Nicolas Rossignol, merged under the name Domaine Nicolas Rossignol. Covering 30 hectares spread across 30 appellations, the vineyard is farmed traditionally, using sustainable viticulture practices and methods inspired by biodynamics.

The vineyard

The Bourgogne Cuvée L Héritière 2018 from Domaine Nicolas Rossignol comes from century-old vines whose fine plants produce small, concentrated clusters. Located near Château de Pommard, this vineyard lies on brown soil with a rich yet shallow subsoil made up mainly of stones and silt.

A sun-drenched vintage, 2018 reveals a new facet of Burgundy's red wines. Rich, dense and powerful, these wines display intense aromas of spice and black fruit.
