A white Châteauneuf-du-Pape of great purity crafted by Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils
The estate
Officially founded in 1964 by Raymond Usseglio, the Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils is an essential family-owned property located in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. This iconic estate of the Rhône Valley is now led by Stéphane Usseglio, who passionately embodies the third generation. Spanning a 55-hectare vineyard, the brand stands out through its deep commitment to the environment, certified in organic and biodynamic farming. The estate is particularly renowned for the diversity of its terroirs, its heritage of old vines and its ability to produce wines of great precision.
The vineyard
The grapes come from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, more precisely from parcels of the Bois Sénéchaux lieu-dit. This unique terroir is mainly composed of magnificent Miocene sandy soils. The vines, on average 50 years old, benefit from a north-facing exposure, favouring slow ripening and a perfect balance of the berries.
Winemaking and aging
For the Pure Roussane 2024 cuvée, the harvest is carried out by hand when the berries reach full maturity. The grapes are then rigorously sorted on a vibrating sorting table. Fermentations take place in small 17 hl foudres and new 5 hl demi-muids crafted by the Stockinger cooperage. The wine is finally aged for six months in these same wooden vessels.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from Roussanne.
