The family estate of La Bastide Blanche is poised in an idyllic setting on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in Sainte-Anne-de-Castellet. Since 1972, this estate has been producing fine wines in the Bandol appellation.
Dedicated to nature and protecting it, Domaine de La Bastide Blanche produces organic wines. The vineyard covers an area of 50 hectares, where the typical soils of the appellation (red clay, clay-limestone and gravelly soils) contribute to the signature style of these wines, which are recognised for their high quality and their great ageing potential.
The 2018 Bandol Blanc by Domaine de La Bastide Blanche comes from a 3.5-hectare vineyard with vines that are 45 years old on average.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested manually. Pneumatic pressing is followed by a 6-day skin contact maceration. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled vats, followed by a blocked malolactic fermentation in order to maintain the balanced flavours by preserving a certain acidity.
Ugni blanc (20%)
This wine showcases a pale gold colour with subtle green highlights.
The nose gradually blends notes of star anise, white peach, fresh herbs and citrus fruit.
The full and delicious palate blends aniseed notes with white peach aromas. Long and persistent, the finish reveals a beautiful salinity.
For an optimal tasting, serve at 8-9°C.
Food and wine pairing
Hard cheeses, shellfish or even asparagus soup will complement this 2018 Bandol white wine by La Bastide Blanche.
