Decanter

Quite varietal on the nose, elderflower, green apple, white floral notes and some crisp peach elements. White peach and pear, super cool and clear, a light touch of acidity with a hint of citrus but this is more on stone fruit and mineral freshness. Not so plump really but balanced nonetheless and super easy to drink. Ends clean. Bottled in February 2025. Represents 75% of the production of dry wines. 3.15 pH.

Smoked herbs and gooseberries with stones and sliced apples. Really fresh and medium-bodied, with good texture and finish. Very good balance. Drink now.

The 2024 Blanc Sec Lions de Suduiraut is fabulous. Intensely aromatic and deep, the 2024 is so impressive right out of the gate. Orchard fruit, white flowers, sage, mint and tomato leaf race across the palate, framed by brisk acids that pull it all together.

Green apples, lemon rind, white peach, apricots, and roasted nuts fill the nose. The palate starts off creamy, slowly evolving with its freshness, pineapples, and grapefruit, with white peaches that come in at the end. You can enjoy this as soon as it hits the stores. The wine blends 56% Semillon, 29% Sauvignon Blanc, and 15% Sauvignon Gris. Drink from 2027-2031. 90-90 Pts

Fermented in tank and barrel and already bottled, the 2024 Lions De Suduiraut Blanc is 56% Semillon, 29% Sauvignon Blanc, and the rest Sauvignon Gris. Clean, classic citrus, melon, minty herbs, and a kiss of spice all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with a vibrant, pure, clean style that's hard to resist.

Le Figaro Vin

A wine of great precision, taut and driven by beautiful minerality. The palate offers a silky, flowing texture, delicately expressed ripe stone fruits, and subtle smoky notes. An elegant white, almost Burgundian in style.

Hazelnut notes combined with aromas of mandarin zest and grapefruit create a delightful symbiosis. Marked by freshness, the wine is as thirst-quenching as it is elegant. It is fine, saline, and ready to drink.

Dressed in a pale yellow color, Lions de Suduiraut Blanc Sec 2024 captivates with its expressive and very fresh nose. Subtle and delicate, floral notes mingle with citrus aromas such as grapefruit and lemon, highlighted by a refined mineral touch.

Palate
The attack is both round and lively, giving way to a full palate, where flavors of pear, granny smith apple and a lemony minerality blend. The finish, tense and crystalline, extends on citrus accents.

A full and lively Bordeaux Blanc Sec

The property

The Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru Classé de Sauternes, has existed since the 16th century. This château with gardens designed by Le Nôtre and a 91-hectare vineyard certified High Environmental Value was taken over in 1992 by AXA Millésimes, which makes a point of preserving and enhancing the know-how and culture of Sauternes wines.

The vineyard

To produce this bordeaux blanc sec, an exceptional terroir was carefully selected within the Château Suduiraut vineyard. This sandy gravel soil, planted with sémillon, sauvignon blanc and sauvignon gris, benefits from the rooting of vines about twenty years old. This ideal combination allows to express all the aromatic richness of the grapes while bringing a dazzling freshness to the wine.

Vinification and aging

Vinification begins with a skin maceration, exclusively reserved for sauvignon blanc and sauvignon gris, the duration of which varies depending on the harvest, ranging between 2 and 12 hours. This is followed by a gentle and prolonged pneumatic pressing, lasting about 2 hours 30, in order to delicately extract the juice. Fermentation then takes place in two distinct phases: 70% of the must is placed in thermoregulated vats, where the temperature is kept between 17 and 22°C, while the remaining 30% is aged in barrels, under identical thermal control.
