Description
A white Burgundy wine imbued with vivacity and precision
The estate
Founded in 1859, the Maison Louis Jadot has established itself as a key reference in Burgundy. The family adventure began with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" in 1826. Today, as the owner of many prestigious parcels, the house perpetuates a know-how passed down from generation to generation, ensuring wine enthusiasts the excellence of Burgundy wines.
Since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey was at the helm of the house. In September 2022, he entrusted the management to Thomas Seiter (formerly of Bouchard Père et Fils), while the General Management was taken over by his son, Thibault Gagey.
The vineyard
This Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from Louis Jadot comes from vineyards located on the border of the communes of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Planted on soils composed of a mix of limestone marl and clay, these exceptional parcels contribute to the renown of this unique terroir.
Vinification and aging
The grapes, harvested by hand, are gently pressed before fermenting in oak barrels, one-third of which are new, from the estate's own cooperage. The aging process lasts about 15 months on fine lees, bringing complexity and finesse to the wine.
Grape variety
This Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2023 from Louis Jadot is 100% Chardonnay.
