The Madiran appellation covers 1,400 hectares in 37 communes. Located in an oceanic climate, the vines of Madiran benefit from various microclimates thanks to its vicinity to the Atlantic Ocean, the Pyrenees and Gascony. Madiran’s terroir is extremely diverse and planted on ridges that are 180 - 300 meters above sea level. The Madiran grape varieties are mostly Tannat which can be supplemented by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Fer Servadou. On the nose, the wines develop intense black fruit aromas (black cherry, blackberry, and blackcurrant). They are ample and dense in the mouth, revealing freshness, silky tannins and tasty spice notes.
