A true pioneer of his appellation,
Alain Brumont has raised the wines of Madiran to rival the best in the world. As a teenage, he was formed at his family estate of Chateau Bouscassé, having already the desire to create his own wine. He finally purchased the Chateau Montus in 1980 to develop a Madiran wine exclusively based on Tannat, the local grape variety. Previously known as austere and overly rustic, Alain Brumont's technical skill allowed the appellation to acquire an international recognition. Everything is done thoroughly and with an eye to detail, from the careful yield management to harvesting only the grapes with perfect ripeness. Alain Brumont managed to tame the strong character of the grape variety without losing its typicity. Suave and deep, Chateau Montus impresses with its fine tannins and mastered power. Its elegant and persistent finish leaves a lasting impression.
