Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the WC Riesling Wehlener Klosterberg Kabinett Sec 2024 by Markus Molitor
Tasting
Appearance
A pale colour, ranging from pale yellow to lemon yellow, adorned with subtle green reflections in its youth.
Nose
The bouquet reveals great freshness with floral aromas and notes of ripe fruits such as lemon, green apple and white peach. The whole is underlined by a marked minerality reminiscent of gunflint and crushed slate.
Palate
Juicy and round, the attack gives way to a vibrant and crisp acidity. The finish stands out for its beautiful length and its saline and mineral character.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with raw seafood, sushi or pan-fried white fish. It also goes very well with white meats in light sauce, delicately spiced Asian dishes as well as fresh goat cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 10°C. A light aeration before tasting can help release all its aromatic complexity.

The estate
The Weingut Markus Molitor estate was created in its modern form in 1984, when Markus Molitor took over the family business. Located in the heart of the Mosel wine region, this property has become the largest private family-owned estate in the sector, spanning approximately 120 to 130 hectares. Still run by Markus Molitor today, the brand stands out for its commitment to reviving the great terroir wines of the region, drawing on a mosaic of prestigious plots and outstanding artisanal expertise.
The vineyard
The Wehlener Klosterberg cru is a steep 24-hectare hillside located right next to the estate. This exceptional terroir is characterised by light to medium soils, composed of weathered Devonian slate rich in iron. The upper part of the vines is bordered by a forest, which ensures a balanced water supply. These unique geological and climatic conditions give rise to racy, elegant, zesty German wines deeply marked by minerality.
Vinification and ageing
The production of this wine is based on an approach that respects the grape. After gentle pressing, the fermentations take place slowly. Ageing is then carried out in stainless steel tanks as well as in large wooden casks, allowing the wine to develop its ample texture while preserving its aromatic purity. The white capsule (WC) affixed to the bottle signs its dry profile.
