Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Mas de Daumas Gassac Blanc 2024

Tasting

Appearance
Bright and clear, the wine displays a pale yellow hue enhanced by subtle golden reflections.

Nose
Fresh and remarkably complex, the nose reveals delicate aromas of white flowers and citrus, harmoniously complemented by notes of exotic fruits.

Palate
The palate is captivating with its vibrant freshness and lovely richness. Ample and expressive, it unfolds elegantly towards a long finish of remarkable smoothness.

Food and wine pairings

Perfect as an aperitif, this wine pairs beautifully with gratinated oysters, scallops in a citrus cream sauce, or pan-seared foie gras. It will also accompany a variety of seafood and fine fish exceptionally well.

Serving and cellaring

For an optimal tasting experience, it is recommended to serve this wine at a temperature between 10 and 12°C, taking care to open the bottle, or even decant it, one hour before serving. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth, but also possesses a structure that will allow it to evolve favourably in the cellar until 2036.

The elegance and complexity of a great white wine from the Haute Vallée du Gassac

The estate

Founded in 1971 by Véronique and Aimé Guibert, the Mas de Daumas Gassac estate carries on a winegrowing tradition initiated by the monks of the Aniane Abbey. Located in the Haute Vallée du Gassac, in the heart of the Languedoc, this family estate is now led by Samuel Guibert, who serves as owner, winemaker and general manager. Renowned for its uncompromising quality standards and respect for the environment, the estate has established itself as an essential reference, producing age-worthy wines that celebrate the unique identity of their terroir.

The vineyard

Set within a vast Mediterranean forest, the vineyard of approximately 50 hectares is divided into small clearings. The old, non-cloned vines flourish on deep, poor soils composed of glacial moraine deposits. This unique terroir of the IGP Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert benefits from a cool microclimate, regulated by the nightly winds from the Larzac plateau and the presence of the local stream. Vineyard management prohibits any use of chemical fertilisers and synthetic molecules, favouring low yields and manual harvesting.

Winemaking and ageing

Following a traditional pressing that respects the fruit, this Mas de Daumas Gassac Blanc 2024 is aged for four months in stainless steel tanks. This method, without any contact with wood, preserves all the aromatic purity of the grapes and the vibrant freshness of this Languedoc wine.

Grape varieties

This Mas de Daumas Gassac Blanc is made from a blend of Viognier (35%), Chardonnay (29%), Petit Manseng (13%) and Chenin Blanc (10%). A mosaic of rare grape varieties (13%) completes this composition.
