The bright and almost black 2010 Cornas Saint Pierre gives off Morello cherry, cassis, camphor and woodland aromas. The palate is powerful with firm tannins and a very persistent finish. This 2010 Domaine de Saint Pierre possesses a great ageing potential. Located near the small chapel of Saint Pierre, on Cornas tableland, Domaine de Saint Pierre is the property of Domaine Paul Jaboulet-Aîné. Its 3.9 hectares of Syrah are facing south and are composed of granitic rock with limestone and a silty deposit.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2010 Cornas Domaine de St.-Pierre is a more typical savage, nearly uncivilized effort exhibiting an inky/purple color as well as lots of pepper, beef blood, camphor, forest floor and blackberry characteristics. It is a wine of extraordinary intensity and superb concentration, but it is so tannic and backward that it needs to be forgotten for a decade. Even though it is in bottle, it has not evolved much since I tasted it from barrel last year.
