The Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is 100% Shiraz from Marananga, in the heart of the Barossa Valley. Its dress is adorned with a highly nuanced deep ruby red. The nose is immediately generous on complex and full flavours of mulberry, pear, quince and blueberries. After swelling it expresses a different style on varnished leather, clove and fresh licorice, not to mention the amazing expression of corn and malt. The first sip leaves on the palate a sensation of smoothness, slenderness with well measured acidity. The structure of this Penfolds on mid-palate is silky and elegant. The very fruity character of its nose is confirmed here with notes of red plum, dairy and rhubarb ice cream notes. Amazing! The whole remains harmonious. A wine to be imperatively decanted before serving. An already pleasant wine that can be kept until 2025.

Very deep garnet-purple in color, the 2011 Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz starts off a little closed around the pure, blackberry aromas dotted with hints of cedar, dried thyme, pepper and fertile loam. The full-bodied palate opens up to show a nice richness of vibrant, youthful fruit supported by firm, grainy tannins and enlivening acid. It finishes long. Drink it now to 2021+.
