Description
The Grange 2010 is a sought after wine thanks to its personality. This "sensorial kaleidoscope", according toe the words of Peter Gago (Penfolds' Chief winemaker) boasts an amazing balance and the charm of an exuberant fruitiness. The nose is intense on notes of peat, iodine and green olives, gradually giving way to a more spicy style with scents of paprika then aromatic herbs such as thyme and origan. In the end notes of cocoa powder appear. On the palate, it offers a good liveliness, density with a wide texture confirming the weight of the vintage. The tannins, of a beautiful class, hint aromas of crushed blackberry through retro-olfaction, as well as dark chocolate, mocha, stewed plum and blueberry. Penfolds has vinificated a rich, complete and serious wine that will need to be waited for patiently. The advised peak is between 2018 and 2060.
