The RWT project, or "Red Winemaking Trial
" started in 1995 at the Penfolds
Estates. This project aimed at developing a red wine from Syrah vines of a single region, the Barossa Valley. The result is a very fruity wine, supple, of a more elegant and finer texture. The RWT Shiraz form the 2006 vintage reveals a rich nose of spices, blueberry, licorice and olive, in a dark red dress. On the palate, the tannins are velvety, the texture is dense and flavours of fruits, espresso and licorice remain very present. The finale is long and leaves the palate coated with dark chocolate, olive and blackberry.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Deep garnet with hints of purple, the 2006 RWT Shiraz has a warm cassis and black cherry compote nose with hints of pepper, cedar and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, muscular and powerful, the concentrated palate is structured by firm and rounded tannins through the long finish.
