Pierre-Jean Villa : Saut de l'Ange 2024

This is a big wine. Powerful, broad, with a gently oily texture. It's loud, fresh, intense and very long. Intense pear, with lychee notes and white flowers and huge length. It really demands food. It's hard to judge how it will age; I would be inclined to drink young, but could surprise with some time in bottle. A rare 100% Roussanne St-Joseph.

Tasted blind. Honey, almond and grilled nuts on the nose. A lovely freshness here, with a grapefruit note, pithy lime skin and real verve and vibrancy. Long, fresh, intense and concentrated. Impressive. (AC)

Crafted entirely from Roussanne planted on granite soils, the 2024 Saint-Joseph Saut de l'Ange is a classic at this address, revealing aromas of white peach, pear and spring flowers mingled with delicate minty nuances. Medium- to full-bodied, enveloping and supple, it’s elegantly juicy, concluding with a subtly phenolic finish that brings both complexity and depth. It's particularly well suited to the table.
