When Michel Reybier, owner of Cos d'Estournel Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Estèphe, became interested in Provence, he fell under the spell of the land at La Mascaronne. The special energy of the place and the well-being that emanates from nature call for the production of excellent rosé wines in the Côtes de Provence appellation.
Convinced that Château La Mascaronne embodies an absolutely unique estate, this vineyard enthusiast bought it in 2020 to extend his love of great wines to a new colour. Since then, he has taken such good care of his vines that the estate has been certified Organic. In addition to this certification, all the grapes used to make the house wines come from the Château La Mascaronne vineyard.
This charming, tranquil estate is rooted in an outstanding terroir in the Var. Set on a cliffside, the vineyards, which are mainly influenced by clay and limestone, culminate at the highest point of the estate at an altitude of 300 metres. Here, a microclimate keeps the vines cool at night. Wonderfully oriented and positioned, the land at La Mascaronne offers natural ventilation and ideal sunshine, helping to keep the grapes in excellent health.
Extensive analysis and research has been carried out to determine which part of the soil is best suited to the development of each grape variety. In this way, each grape ripens in the ideal place for its character and can develop an intense aromatic expression. Thanks to its precision work and detailed knowledge of its vineyards, Château La Mascaronne allows the terroir to give up its best.
This approach fits in perfectly with the philosophy of the Provençal house: "to magnify what Nature offers to man, while adapting as best we can to its specific characteristics." This state of mind accompanies each stage of the winemaking process, giving the grapes an authentic, precise character. Château La Mascaronne produces expressive, well-balanced wines, including Côtes de Provence wines that are the pure expression of a terroir that is unique in the world.
