Description

Roc d’Anglade crafts a silky, aromatic red wine from the Languedoc

The estate
Writings attest to the presence of vines in Langlade as early as 936, a small village located in the Gard. The phylloxera crisis destroyed the development of this vineyard, which was then booming. In 1999, Rémy Pédreno, a virtuoso winegrower, founded the Roc d’Anglade estate with his wife. Covering 10 hectares, the vineyard benefits from Langlade’s exceptional limestone terroir.

Produced under the IGP Pays du Gard designation, the wines of the Roc d’Anglade estate express their native terroir with authenticity and rank among the elite wines of the Languedoc.

The vineyard
This Roc d’Anglade Rouge 2018 is made from a 6-hectare vineyard, farmed organically, naturally grassed over, and located on hillsides with northern, eastern, and southwestern exposures. Averaging 25 to 30 years old, the vines grow on calcareous marls over a clay-silt-silica subsoil.

Vinification and aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes are fermented using indigenous yeasts. Whole-cluster vinification is carried out in open vats without extraction. Maceration lasts 15 days. Performed by gravity, barreling is followed by 18 months of aging, including 12 months on fine lees in foudres and demi-muids. A light filtration is carried out before bottling this IGP Pays du Gard wine.

Blend
Roc d’Anglade Rouge 2018 is a blend of carignan (50%), mourvèdre (20%), grenache (20%) and syrah-cinsault (10%).
