The estate
For more than 250 years, the Weingut Dönnhoff has overseen a unique terroir of vertiginous hillsides on the banks of the Nahe.
Vintage after vintage, Helmut Dönnhoff makes great German wines from a mosaic of terroirs, expressing the complexity, purity and multiple nuances of Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
Recognised across borders as some of the finest white wines in the world, the wines of Weingut Dönnhoff are seductive for their elegance, aromatic richness, freshness and exceptional minerality, which emerge after decades in the cellar.
The vineyard
Covering an area of 25 hectares, the Weingut Dönnhoff terroir is unique in that its variety of soils and exposures provide ideal conditions for the grapes to reach optimum ripeness. The vines, aged between 20 and 70 years, are meticulously cared for and produce great German wines with low yields but high quality.
The wine
Classified as a VDP Grosse Lage, this Nahe wine comes from vines aged between 15 and 45 years on steep terraces with soils composed of slate and weathered volcanic rock (porphyry). This natural rocky terroir protects the vineyard and allows it to reach a good level of ripeness.
