Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise 2025 by Xavier Vignon
Tasting
Appearance
This Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise 2025 displays a brilliant, limpid and luminous grey-yellow hue, heralding a wine that is both luscious and free of any oxidative notes.
Nose
The nose is expressive and seductive, driven by aromas of white peach and apricot, accompanied by floral notes of honeysuckle that lend a delicately honeyed touch to the whole.
Palate
The palate is unctuous and soft, while retaining a lovely freshness carried by citrus notes that balance the natural sweetness of this sweet wine. The precise mutage, designed to limit residual sugar as much as possible while preserving natural acidity, gives this Muscat a harmonious balance between indulgence and vivacity.
Food and Wine Pairings
This wine is an ideal match for shellfish and crustaceans, as well as mixed salads with citrus or roast poultry with dried fruits. It also pairs very well with pan-seared foie gras and blue cheeses such as Roquefort, or with spiced exotic dishes. For dessert, it is an excellent partner for fruit salads and chocolate-based sweets.
Serving and Cellaring
The Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise 2025 is best served chilled, at around 9 to 11°C, to fully reveal its aromatic freshness. This wine can be enjoyed from bottling, ideally until around 2035.
A Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise with Preserved Freshness by Xavier Vignon
The Estate
Xavier Vignon settled in 1996 in the southern Rhône Valley, at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, after a career as an itinerant oenologist that took him through French vineyards and both hemispheres. Today at the helm of around thirty hectares, he personally runs this project, born from his work as a consulting oenologist in Beaumes-de-Venise. Nearly 70% of his wines are now Ecocert-certified organic. His approach is innovative, combining a keen reading of terroirs with distinctive winemaking techniques.
The Vineyard
This 2025 Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise comes from plots located in the communes of Beaumes-de-Venise and Aubignan, on soils made up of 80% clay-limestone and 20% poor sands. Nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail at an altitude of between 100 and 500 metres, this terroir enjoys a climate that is relatively cool for the region, bringing tension and balance to the Muscat à petits grains grapes.
Winemaking and Ageing
The making of the Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise 2025 begins with hand-harvesting, followed by low-temperature vinification designed to preserve the varietal expression of the Muscat. Mutage is carried out with precision to halt fermentation while keeping residual sugar to a minimum and retaining the fruit's natural acidity. Ageing takes place largely in Wine Globe glass tanks, a neutral vessel chosen to preserve the aromatic purity and freshness of the fruit.
Grape Variety
100% Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains.
