Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the "Les Potiers" 2025 cuvée by Yves Cuilleron

Tasting notes

Colour
This white wine from France reveals a pale yellow hue, both limpid and brilliant.

Nose
Particularly expressive, the aromatic bouquet opens with scents of yellow fruits such as peach and mirabelle plum, mingled with notes of citrus and candied lemon. A delicate mineral imprint reminiscent of gunflint elevates the whole.

Palate
The palate offers a superb balance between a supple texture and a refreshing mineral tension. The tasting experience stretches towards a persistent finish, underlined by noble, highly digestible bitters.

Food and wine pairings

Ideal for starting a meal at aperitif time, this white wine pairs wonderfully with grilled or oven-baked fish, such as cod or salmon. It also elevates seafood platters, shellfish such as scallops, and subtly spiced seafood dishes, such as a monkfish curry.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate the aromatic profile of Les Potiers 2025, we recommend serving it at a temperature of around 12°C in large glasses. This wine can be enjoyed for its fruity youthfulness and can be cellared to be drunk until around 2029.

The estate

Founded in 1920 by Claude Cuilleron, the family estate is located in Chavanay, France, in the heart of the Rhône Valley. Since 1987, Yves Cuilleron has been at the helm of the estate and has transformed the original 3.5 hectares into a benchmark vineyard spanning several dozen hectares. Renowned for his pragmatic approach and precise viticulture, the estate favours rigorous manual work on steep terraces. Yves Cuilleron today embodies the renewal of the region, producing authentic wines that reflect the richness of their terroirs with great precision.

The vineyard

The grapes come from the Saint-Péray appellation, located in the southernmost part of the northern Rhône. The vines thrive on gentle slopes with a south-westerly exposure, ideal for optimal ripening. The soil is made up of alluvial deposits with pebbles, promoting excellent drainage and releasing the heat it has stored. The vineyard is managed with natural grass cover, green harvesting and meticulous leaf removal, with the utmost respect for local biodiversity.

Vinification and ageing

The harvest of the Les Potiers 2025 cuvée is carried out entirely by hand. In the cellar, vinification is traditional and parcel-based, using exclusively indigenous yeasts. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place half in large wooden vats (foudres) and half in Burgundy barrels. The wine then benefits from ageing on fine lees for eight to nine months, without any racking, before the final blend prior to bottling.

Grape varieties

This wine is made from a blend of 50% Marsanne and 50% Roussanne.
