A seductive, mellow and savory red. On the nose it has notes of dark cherries, Mediterranean herbs and stones. Medium-bodied with finely grained tannins. Textured and layered. Supple and balanced with more stony character and a delicious, peppery finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Full bottle 1,433 g. Certified Ecocert organic. 90% Nielluciu, 10% Grenache grown on clay-limestone and schist. Temperature-controlled fermentation and 12 months in cuve inox. Smells a bit of burnt rubber. But it tastes fabulous. The fruit is clear as a bell, so ripe and pure and concentrated that the glass can hardly contain it. So shiny deep red that it's like a Christmas bauble in my mouth. Yet, at the same time, there is this remarkably wide, strong, rock-hard, black-rock-and-salt spine of minerality that makes the wine tower, vertically, in the mouth. Leccia makes seriously beautiful, interesting, exciting wines. (TC)

La RVF

The opposite of YL red, the cuvée E Croce is largely dominated by Niellucciu, with a darker color density, carmine-garnet. Notes of black cherries emerge, no oak, always fruit to the fore, with spicy nuances. The palate has lovely substance, a ripe, racy juice; the schist influence is evident, the tannins are very fine and support the whole. Beautiful balance, the freshness of 2021 and good ageing potential.

A gourmet and balanced red wine from Corsica

The property

Winemakers from father to son, for the Leccia family, wine is undeniably a family story. Son, grandson, great-grandson of winemakers, Yves Leccia naturally follows this path and creates his own estate with his partner Sandrine in 2005. Located in the north of Corsica, in the heart of the Patrimonio appellation, the estate now watches over 15 hectares of vines on the sublime E Croce and Partinelone plots. Freshness, minerality, purity of fruit are expressed in the heart of the passionate winemaker's cuvées, an invitation to discover the most beautiful jewels of the Patrimonio appellation.

The vineyard

E Croce Red 2021 is a Patrimonio wine from a vineyard benefiting from an ideal location on hillsides facing the Mediterranean Sea. The shale and limestone soil and the Mediterranean climate that influences it offer ideal conditions for the cultivation of local grape varieties. Sustainable and environmentally friendly viticultural practices are at the heart of the estate's philosophy, the vineyard is thus conducted in organic farming.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted. After the harvest, the berries are destemmed and crushed, then placed in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, usually between 25 and 30°C, for a period of 12 to 15 days. After devatting, the berries undergo pressing, then the free-run juice and press juice are blended. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for 15 to 20 days. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months in stainless steel tanks.
