Description
The fruitiness and finesse of a Piedmont wine by Brezza
The estate
The Azienda Agricola Brezza Giacomo e Figli, a prestigious reference in the Barolo appellation, has owned vineyards since 1885. The estate's first vintage was produced in 1910. The fourth generation of the Brezza family currently runs the estate, which is still driven by the same passion and treasured know-how. Located in the historic heart of the Barolo appellation, in the province of Cuneo in northern Italy, Azienda Agricola Brezza is situated 500 metres away from the entrance to the village of Barolo and produces sublime Italian wines.
The vineyard
The Azienda Agricola Brezza estate covers a total area of 31 hectares, with 20 hectares of vines, classified as DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) or DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata). The vineyards of Azienda Agricola Brezza are located on some of the appellation's most prestigious plots, in the villages of Monforte, Novello and Alba. The Azienda Agricola Brezza notably owns a parcel on Cannubi, which is one of the most famous Barolo crus and the oldest Italian cru, gaining recognition as early as 1752. The estate is run using certified organic farming practices. By combining tradition and innovation, Azienda Agricola Brezza pursues the desire to offer wines that express all the typicality of the Langhe region, the characteristics of the grape variety and the different terroirs of Barolo.
Brezza's 2018 Santa Rosalia is a Piedmont wine made from an almost 1.3-hectare vineyard located in the village of Barolo. Planted in 2004, the vines face west and are poised at an altitude of 300 metres.
Vinification and ageing
Freshness and elegance were the guiding principles during the vinification process. Maceration for 6 to 8 days. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for one year in oak barrels before being aged in the bottle for another year.
