Description
Bruno Colin releases a rich and balanced Santenay red wine
The estate
Founded in 2004 by Bruno Colin in Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy, the Bruno Colin estate is taking forward thousands of years of wine-making tradition. The first traces of vines in the Chassagne-Montrachet vineyard date back to 281 under the Roman Emperor Probus. With their finesse and precision, the wines of Domaine Bruno Colin are a precise and refined expression of the great terroirs of Burgundy.
The vineyard
At the origin of great Burgundy wines, the Bruno Colin estate looks after a vineyard spread over the terroirs of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay and Maranges.
The wine
The cuvée "Vieilles Vignes" 2020 is a Santenay wine made from a plot named "Les Prarons Dessus," near the famous Clos de Tavannes, along the Dheune river below the village of Santenay. "Les Prarons" takes its name from "Prés Longs." The vines, planted in 1959, are planted on brown, shallow, stony limestone soil.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand and sorted at the vine and then on a vibrating sorting table. The grapes are 100% destemmed. Vatting for about fifteen days with minimal intervention. Aged for 12 months in oak barrels (25% of which are new), then 3 to 6 months in vats.
Blend
Pinot Noir (100%)
