Description
The creaminess and freshness of a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé
The estate
The name Château Angélus comes from the winegrowers who used to ring the bells of three churches simultaneously in the heart of the famous medieval town of Saint-Émilion. This legendary property of the appellation was founded in 1782 and, for 8 generations, the de Boüard de Laforest family has overseen this exceptional heritage on Bordeaux’s Right Bank.
The vineyard
Château Angélus is a Saint-Emilion wine from an exceptional terroir whose vines are located on the southern slope of Saint-Emilion. This terroir extends over clay-limestone soils on the upper part and clay-sand-limestone soils on the hillside.
The vintage
2015 was a year of perfect conditions throughout the growing season. The spring saw evenflowering before rainy spells which were beneficial to the vineyard development. Despite particularly dry conditions in June and July, the veraison was optimal. August was mild with scattered restorative rains, which advanced excellent grape development. The alternation of sunny days and cool nights during September, with scattered rains, were ideal conditions to refine the ripeness. During the month-long "à la carte" harvest, the health of the vineyard was exceptional. The Merlots were ripe and fresh, and the Cabernets Francs superb with their elegance, density and silky touch.

Characteristics and tasting tips for Château Angélus 2015
Tasting
Colour
The colour is of a beautiful inky purple.
Nose
Pure and deep, the nose reveals a smooth freshness with black fruit scents (burlat cherry, blackcurrant). With aeration, the bouquet becomes more complex, exhaling notes of black fig, cedar and red rose, while preserving a lovely minerality.
Palate
A precise and refined attack precedes a palate with enveloping, creamy tannins and spicy notes (black pepper). Ample and expressive, the palate stretches to a fresh and lasting finish. A sunny vintage which delights with its subtle alliance between power, refinement, elegance and freshness.
