A prestigious reference of the Margaux appellation, on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Château Boyd-Cantenac has released a beautiful 2018 vintage.
The climatic conditions of the 2018 vintage were marked by two very different periods: very wet months at the beginning of the season, followed by a beautiful summer that was dry and hot. The thermal variation between day and night during the month of August allowed the fruit to ripen beautifully.
At Château Boyd-Cantenac, the harvest took place between October 1st and 23rd, with each parcel picked only when its fruit had reached a perfect level of ripeness and excellent health.
Each grape included in the blend of Château Boyd-Cantenac 2018 (which was made up of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, and 6% Cabernet Franc) is fully expressed in the glass.
First, the Château Boyd-Cantenac 2018 presents a beautiful dense colour in the glass. The nose is very expressive, with a seductive aromatic intensity, marked by the brightness and power of the ripe fruit, complemented by light woody nuances from the barrel-ageing. The palate shows off a beautiful finesse and a great aromatic richness, with plenty of volume and flexibility. The vintage displays that certain silky texture that distinguishes Boyd-Cantenac, extending into a very full and elegant finish. A magnificent vintage showing off the signature style of Château Boyd-Cantenac, with tons of freshness, and a very nice acidity.
The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Boyd-Cantenac features smoked meats, dried herbs and savory aromas over baked berries and cassis with a pencil lead hint. The palate is full-bodied with a soft texture and bags of fruit and herb sparks, finishing warm.
