Château Clos de Sarpe 2015

Quite extract-rich, lots of oak, but also juicy with good length.

Blackcurrant, liquorice and dark fruit. Big extract but the vintage permits this. Slightly chewy and dry on the finish but minerality adds freshness.

Deep ruby in color, the wine is like eating ripe plums with a stony edge, and that’s exactly what makes it so compelling. There is weight, density, length, and complexity. The finish is long, leaving a trail of sweet, perfectly ripe red fruits and freshness.

Nose marked by merlot with truffled notes. The wine is fresh, slightly herbal, with somewhat firm tannins. 85 merlot, 15 cabernet-franc over 3.70 ha.

The nose of Clos de Sarpe remains marked by a warm character. Notes of candied fruit and spices. A luscious touch on the attack. On the palate, the wine is charming and fruity. The tannins provide solid support, and the finish, somewhat drying, confirms the bouquet’s warm character.
