Description
A supple and aromatic Barsac sweet wine
The producer
Château Coutet is located in the Barsac appellation in the Sauternes region. In 1787, Thomas Jefferson, future President of the United States, considered Château Coutet as the best Sauternes in Barsac. The word "Coutet" is derived from the Gascon word for knife. This word perfectly sums up the unique style of the estate's wines, which are sharp, lively and fresh.
The vineyard
The deep roots of the Château Coutet vines draw the terroir’s necessary elements in order to bring freshness, richness and strength to the grapes.
The blend
This Château Coutet 2000 comprises a blend of Semillon (90%), Sauvignon Blanc (9%) and Muscadelle (1%).
The tasting
Colour
A beautiful golden colour with subtle patina highlights.
Nose
Fine and concentrated, this wine exhudes elegant fragrances of beeswax and gingerbread with subtle notes of candied fruit, peach liqueur and dried fruit (hazelnut).
Palate
Very supple, the palate blends mineral notes with aromas of sweet spices, vanilla and stewed mirabelles. Its delicious finish brings a medium length, typical of a whimsical vintage which has, with time, been able to forge its own real identity.
