Caves d'Esclans was created just after the acquisition of Château d’Esclans by Bordeaux's Sacha Lichine. The property is located in the heart of the Var, near the Gorges de Pennafort, 25 km north of the ancient Roman city of Fréjus, in the region of Provence. It includes an exceptional vineyard of 44 hectares.
Rock Angel 2017, produced in AOC Côtes de Provence is made from a selection of the best parcels of the Château d'Esclans, and combines the complex characteristics of various Provençal grape varieties, including Grenache (the emblematic grape of the property), along with Rolle and Syrah.
Harvested between sunrise and noon, the grapes were subjected to a very selective double sorting, first manually and then electronically. They were then de-stemmed before a light crushing, performed at a temperature of 7-8 ° to avoid the oxidation of the berries. Fermentation was carried out directly without maceration. The free-run and pressed juices were then vinified in 600L demi-muids and stainless steel tanks.
Elegant and tasty, with a very beautiful texture on the palate, Château d'Esclans' Rock Angel 2017 is the perfect example of a wine that, in addition to being a superb rosé perfect as an aperitif, is also a world-class pairing to a wide range of dishes.
