Description
A smooth and elegant red wine from Pomerol
The estate
Owned by the Raynaud-Lebreton family and with origins dating back to 1477, Château La Fleur de Gay is located on the medieval road that goes from Saint-Émilion to Guitres. The estate is located on what used to be the historic village of Pomerol, the hamlet of Pignon, to the north of the appellation.
The vineyard
A benchmark among Pomerol wines, Château La Fleur de Gay reigns over a 2-hectare vineyard that spreads over three parcels on the high terrace of the appellation.
Vinification and ageing
Manual harvesting followed by a rigorous sorting in the vat room. Alcoholic fermentation and post-fermentation maceration in temperature-controlled cement vats for 3 to 4 weeks. Malolactic fermentation and 18 months of ageing in new barrels (100%).
The blend
Château La Fleur de Gay 2013 is a blend of Merlot (75%) and Cabernet Franc (25%).
