A Sauternes Premier Cru Classé since 1855, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the most prestigious names in this iconic appellation for sweet wines, located towards the south of the Bordeaux region.
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an exceptional terroir, with a 30-hectare vineyard exclusively reserved for the production of its Sauternes Premier Cru Classé.
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2002 is widely acclaimed by critics, with Bettane & Desseauve – Le grand guide des vins de France 2009 describing it as such: "A marvellous purity and subtlety, with a fruitiness that has been completely sheltered from any touches of oxidation or modification, a wonderfully woodiness melted with the liquor, a great seducer." On the international level, this cru is described by the prestigious Wine Spectator as "very pretty for the vintage, with lots of aromas of lemoned honey and vanilla. Full-bodied, very sweet with dried banana, apricot and a subtle spicy finish. The best after 2001."
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2002 is made from a blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle.
