Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2019

Expressive nose of lime, tangerine and some exotic spices. Gorgeous mouthfeel here, so sumptuous, seductive and definitely sugary but with a nice clarity, precision and coolness to the palate. It's rich and full but well balanced, giving flavours of lemon, apricot and peach alongside caramel, toffee and gorgeous wild floral honey. Good length.

Aromas of apricots, peaches, lemon pie, vanilla and mango stones. Sweet and creamy with fleshy, peach-pie character. A subtler expression. Drink now or hold.

Bright and effusive, with terrific persistence, the 2019 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is so alluring. Tangerine peel, passionfruit, mint, pineapple and a kiss of new French oak are all beautifully delineated. Even with all of its intensity, the 2019 remains gracious and light on its feet. Superb. Tasted two times

Honeyed tropical fruits with candied mango, orange rind, apricots and pineapple, all slathered in honey. This is showing much better in the bottle than it did in barrel. Now, you find a rich, lusciously textured, unctuous and racy sweet treat that will show well young, yet it can age and evolve for 2 decades as well. Drink from 2022-2050.

Pale golden yellow, silver reflections. Delicate notes of meadow herbs and white peach, candied orange zest, a touch of honey. Medium complexity, yellow fruit, powerful texture, sweet caramel notes, already developed, shows length and great, clear ageing potential.

Kunz barrel sample 2020: (93% Sémillon, 7% Sauvignon Blanc, 8 hl/ha, production 15,000 bottles) Complex, dense, fresh, mineral, creamy bouquet with Williams pears, raspberry blossoms, chalk, honey, cooked apples, linden blossoms. Velvety, dense, creamy, finely opulent palate with dense fruit, pronounced sweetness, well-integrated acidity, varied, powerful aromatics, a generously full structure, and a long, fresh, persistent finish. Has room to improve further.

Velvety, dense, creamy palate with a finely opulent profile, concentrated fruit, pronounced sweetness, well-integrated acidity, powerful and multifaceted aromatics, generous structure, and a long, fresh, powerful finish. Enjoyable, full of energy and character, with a satiny, precisely spliced texture to the apricot, nectarine and pineapple fruits. As it opens in the glass, waves of white truffle and ginger, with a zing of mandarin zest, become clear. An impressive Sauternes with decades ahead of it.

The 2019 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale lemon-straw color. It prances out with showy notes of baked pineapple, apricot compote, and juicy mangoes, giving way to hints of clover honey, marzipan, and lime leaves, with a hint of chalk. The palate is super-intense, with vibrant tropical fruit flavors and a racy line of freshness, finishing long and honey-laced.

Lovely citrus aromas on the nose, excellent toasted notes, a pure overall impression and enough richness to carry on a prestigious recent run of fine vintages.

On the nose, it evokes flint. The palate is all power and muscle. This sweet wine surprises with its strength and energy. It plays on beautiful bitters, suggesting more the zest of candied fruit than citrus pulp, with a very pure liqueur. A classy, distinguished Sauternes. Superb.

An exotic nose with aromas of fresh pineapple in syrup. On the palate, yellow fruit, a lovely fullness, density, and a caressing texture that makes you want to snuggle up by the fire while listening to a Verdi opera.

True to itself, Lafaurie-Peyraguey shows an intense, complex bouquet with inviting nuances of roasted almonds and citrus peel. These are complemented by hints of saffron and green tea after a little aeration. A lovely saline attack, complementing the sweetness and character. A brilliant, persistent wine, ready to defy the decades to come.

The nose is fruity, elegant, intense and racy. It reveals notes of candied zest, candied lemon and, more subtly, quince, combined with small touches of kumquat and fresh peach, as well as fine hints of orange blossom, beeswax and a discreet hint of almond (in the background). The palate is fruity, balanced and mineral, offering good definition, juiciness, freshness, indulgence, a fine creaminess, richness, a lovely fine grain and precision. On the palate, this wine shows notes of candied lemon, juicy/fleshy flat peach and, more lightly, candied quince, together with small touches of crushed green apple, quenette, zest, as well as subtle hints of juicy/crisp mirabelle and very fine hints of honey and caramelization. Good length and persistence.

Pale, golden color. Moderately aromatic, fruity nose. On the palate, sweetness dominates. Normal length.

On the second nose, linden blossom honey, pickled figs and green tea extract. On the oily palate, dancing verve and a syrupy extract. In the aromatic, long-lasting finish, a long crescendo of passion fruit and mango. Among the top wines of the appellation. The second wine La Chapelle impresses with fresh, cooked pear purée, behind it greengages. On the oily palate, a finely peppery extract and perfectly balanced verve. Aromatic finish with yellow fruits and hints of dried fruit.
