Description
A red wine from Saint-Estèphe with tannins of great finesse
A red wine produced in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, the Château Lafon-Rochet is a 4ème cru classé. Aged 40 years on average, the vines enjoy a terroir consisting of deep gravel and gravel on clay. The ageing of the wine is carried out in French oak barrels (of which 50% are new), for 16 to 18 months on average. The 2008 vintage blends 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
At tasting, the Château Lafon-Rochet 2008 reveals a complex and fragrant nose, with scents of red fruits, ripe vine peaches and subtle notes of spicy black pepper and nutmeg. The wine shows a balanced structure and wonderful elegance, before offering tannins of great finesse. The finish is generous in fruit, consistent with the nose. To consume before 2025 (tasted in 2015 by the estate).
