Château Latour-Martillac 2018

The Latour Martillac 2018 Blanc rolls out of the glass with upfront notes of spiced pears, lemon curd and lime cordial, plus hints of chalk dust, apple blossoms and coriander seed. The medium-bodied palate retains its sense of freshness and sophistication, even in this warmer vintage. It has delicately played citrus and stone fruit layers with a reassuring chalkiness to the finish. I love how this wine has managed to keep its cool in 2018—nicely done!

This offers a mix of marjoram, thyme and fennel aromas backed with bright and engaging lemon peel, white peach and tangerine notes. Long finish ripples nicely with energy. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2024.

Rich citrus and stone fruits, some vigour and lift, but it still drops off more quickly than you would want.

Aromas of dried lemon zest, green apples, toasted nuts, flint and hay. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and a dense, waxy texture. Tight, energetic and focused. Long. Give it a few years in bottle to see its full potential. Try after 2022.

Light yellow-green with silver reflections. Fine yellow tropical fruit aromas, subtle tangerine, a hint of apricot and some blossom on the nose. This wine is juicy, balanced with fine peach fruit, a discreet acid structure – a well-made wine.

I loved the 2018 Château Latour-Martillac Blanc, a rich, nicely concentrated, vibrant white that shines on all accounts. Notes of ripe pineapple, flowers, honeysuckle, and subtle grapefruit define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with plenty of fruit, medium to full body, bright acidity, and a distinct sense of minerality on the finish. It’s going to evolve for a solid 15 years or more.

(54% Sauvignon Blanc, 46% Sémillon, 13.7% alc./vol., 50 hl/ha) Mineral, elegant, and fresh bouquet with peach, grapefruit, and almonds. Delicately structured, finely fruited palate with good fruit, ripe acidity, powerful aromatics, and a long, subtly bitter finish. 17/20 2022 - 2038

Touches of passionfruit on the nose; this is a lovely wine with white pear, apricot and nectarine, with lime zest and bitter almond on the finish delivering a juicy lift. Concentrated but clearly balanced, impressive for such a warm vintage—this is excellent. Harvest started on August 28 through to September 13. 25% new oak.

The 2018 white Latour-Martillac is a little mute to begin, opening up to reveal scents of lime cordial, pink grapefruit, and white peaches, with a waft of chalk. Medium-bodied, the palate has a zippy line of freshness and plenty of bright stone fruit flavors, finishing with a zesty lift.

Complex bouquet with tropical notes, featuring nuances of pineapple and passion fruit. A touch of hazelnut. On the palate, the wine is juicy, elegant, and perfectly balanced. I find the same aromatic characteristics on the finish. The circle is complete, and the wine can already be enjoyed!

Pale yellow color. Intense, fruity nose with a hint of oak. Soft on the attack, silky mid-palate; the wine caresses the palate, juicy, fruity, with a touch of oak on the finish. Should come together with time.
