Château Romanin 2021

The delicacy and aromatic complexity of a rosé wine from the Les Baux-de-Provence appellation

The estate

With its origins dating back more than two thousand years, Château Romanin was consecutively a spiritual centre for the Greeks, the Gauls and the Christians.

Located at the entrance of the Les Baux-de-Provence appellation, Château Romanin has belonged to the Charmolüe family since 2006, who formerly owned the Second Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Estèphe, Château Montrose.

The vineyard

Produced under the Les Baux-de-Provence appellation, this 2021 Château Romanin rosé wine stems from a 58-hectare vineyard that is planted on sandy limestone to sandy-loam soil, on the northern slopes of the Alpilles mountain range. The vineyard is run biodynamically and produces wines that are vinified and aged in an underground cellar covered with topsoil, which ensures the harmony between the cultivation of the vines and the work in the cellar.

Vinification and ageing

Following the manual harvest, the grapes are cooled in a cold room (10°C) for 24 hours. After settling, alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks, as is the ageing period on fine lees for about 5 months with regular stirring of the lees.

The blend

Grenache (58%)

Mourvèdre (24%)

Syrah (12%)

Counoise (6%)
