A rich and balanced New Zealand Blanc de Noirs

The estate

Located on the foothills of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, Clos Henri is a prestigious New Zealand estate run by the Bourgeois family, winegrowers for 10 generations. Rémi and Jean-Marie Bourgeois, passionate about revealing the finest terroirs for Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, explored the world in search of the perfect place. Their quest led them to New Zealand, where they founded Clos Henri in 2000. The estate now spans 110 hectares of vines, 42 of which are certified organic.

The vineyard

Rich in glacial deposits, the estate benefits from one of the most diverse terroirs in the Marlborough Valley, with soils formed over three distinct geological periods, composed of layers of wind-blown clay and rounded pebbles.

The cuvée

“Solange” pays tribute to Henri Bourgeois’s wife and her essential role within Clos Henri. This Blanc de Noirs comes from the Broadbridge and Withe vineyards, organically farmed on stony soils.

Winemaking and aging

Gentle pressing of whole clusters preserves only the most delicate juice. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks, followed by 10 months of aging on fine lees, both in tanks and in old oak barrels. Cold stabilization promotes secondary fermentation in bottle, followed by additional aging on the lees. Minimum aging is 18 months on racks before disgorgement and release.

Grape variety

Pinot Noir.
